Supreme Court: Supreme Court Directs Notice Publication to Raje and Others in Rajasthan Water Scheme Case | Jaipur News

Jaipur: In a 16-year-old case of alleged irregularities in the purchase of pipes for drinking water scheme in Rajasthan, the Supreme Court has directed to serve notice through publication to the former chief minister Vasundhara Raje and others.
Also, the hearing of the case has been kept on January 11, 2024.
The registrar of the Supreme Court gave this order on the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the applicant Manju Surana.
The applicant has challenged the orders of Rajasthan High Court and ACB Court through the SLP.
It was said in the SLP that a loss of Rs 646 crore was caused to the exchequer due to irregularities in the purchase of pipes for a total of five drinking water schemes including Barmer Lift Project and Pokhran-Phalsud Project. The company that had the lowest rate in the tender for this scheme was not given the contract to work. Whereas the contract was given to the desired firm by changing the conditions. In this regard, Rajya Sabha MP VP Yadav too had complained to Raje in 2007, but no action was taken on that complaint.
A complaint was also filed in this regard in the ACB court. But in this case the ACB court rejected the complaint. In this case, after not getting relief even from the high court, SLP was filed in the Supreme Court. tnn

Courts can give pre-arrest bail outside jurisdiction: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court ruled that high courts or sessions courts can entertain anticipatory bail pleas and grant transit bail to an accused even if the offense was committed in another jurisdiction or state. The court introduced the concept of transit anticipatory bail to protect an accused from arrest until they move the court of territorial jurisdiction for the alleged offense. However, the court also implemented conditions to prevent misuse of the ruling, including requiring the accused to explain their inability to seek anticipatory bail from the court with territorial jurisdiction.
