Congress: Congress Set for Biggest Defeat in Rajasthan Elections: Shekhawat | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Reacting to CM Ashok Gehlot’s claim of a “strong undercurrent” in favour of Congress in Rajasthan, Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Friday said that Congress is heading towards its “biggest defeat” in the polls.
“Gehlotji made a similar statement in the 2013 assembly polls, but his party was reduced to 21 seats. This time, it will create a new record by winning an even smaller number of seats on December 3,” said Shekhawat during an interaction with journalists in Jodhpur.Polling is being held in the state on Saturday.
“The BJP wave is so strong that even CM Ashok Gehlot is losing the polls from his bastion, Sardarpura (in Jodhpur). The reasons are obvious: Congress has deceived every segment of society over the past five years. People are so disappointed and angry that they have chosen to give BJP the most seats in the legislature,” said Shekhawat.
BJP state president CP Joshi urged voters to consider atrocities against women, Dalits, and tribals, the beheading of Kanhiya Lal of Udaipur, and corruption before casting their ballots. “Voters must ensure that they vote for BJP candidates to signal the end of the anti-people government. Only BJP is devoted to providing citizens with a government devoid of corruption, appeasement of minorities, and crime. Your vote will help build not only Rajasthan but also a stronger India,” said Joshi. Urging voters to cast their votes in the first half of the day, former BJP state president Satish Poonia told TOI, “The priority of the people should be to vote on Saturday. They have to then look for those who have not voted and convince them to exercise their franchise.” TNN
