Jmc-g Collects ₹10cr From Advertisement Tax | Jaipur News

Jaipur: In a first, officials from JMC Greater (JMC-G) said that they have collected over Rs 10 crore revenue just from advertisement taxin this financial year till now. Officials said that surveys were conducted in important markets and roads of the city to find out from where all the municipal corporation was losing revenue and notices were sent to the defaulters.Janardan Sharma, deputy commissioner for revenue at JMC-G said,
“This is the first time when we have collected over Rs 10 crore of revenue just from advertisement tax which is 10 times of what was collected last year. Last year, around Rs 85 lakh was collected from advertisement tax. We made sure that important market areas where big advertisement hoardings, especially by multi-national companies are put up in the city are surveyed and it can be assessed how much revenue is owed to the municipal corporation.”
In the financial year 2022-23, JMC-G collected urban development tax, house tax and advertisement tax amounting to Rs 69 crore.
Sharma said that on Tonk Road survey was carried out from Ajmeri Gate till Sanganer Puliya, survey was carried out at Gopalpura road and markets in Mansarovar.
“After the survey, the gap was identified, and notices were issued. The private firm that is responsible for collection of tax was also motivated to increase the revenue collection. We have also made a new advertisement zone on Mahal Road, Jagatpura, which has also added to the revenue collection,” said Sharma.
Officials said that with markets, malls and shopping complexes coming up in Jagatpura, advertisements on Mahal Road and nearby regions were increasing, which became a good source of revenue for the civic body.
The municipal corporation is also tapping on revenue from kiosk advertisements put up on streetlight poles on Tonk Road, JLN Marg, and other key roads in the city. Officials said that around Rs 4 crores of revenue has been earned from such advertisements.

The revised estimates for this fiscal’s revenue numbers will be presented as part of the vote on account or interim budget. The official clarified that there is no case for a cut in excise duty on fuel as crude oil prices have already cooled in international markets. Excise duty on fuel was previously reduced in May 2022 to curb inflation.
