Each MLA is being given about 7-10 minutes and asked to answer a set of questions.
The questions included performance of ministers in charge of districts, effectiveness of government’s flagship programmes in the constituency and the state, coordination between the party and the government, the prospect of the party retaining power, suggestions for improving performance apart from the best candidate suited to be appointed as block and district presidents in their areas.
On the first day on Wednesday, MLAs from the 12 districts of Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Alwar, Baran, Dausa, Karauli, Sawaimadhopur, Bharatpur, Bundi, Kota and Dholpur are to meet Maken.
While the MLAs are elated on the new initiative of interacting with Maken as they can give honest feedback directly to the AICC general secretary, at least some of the ministers seemed a bit nervous.
Some MLAs, on condition of anonymity, admitted that they had complained against a few ministers on their style of functioning. Their major grudge is that the ministers are inaccessible and not obliging when they request transfers and postings of officials.
While some of the MLAs close to Gehlot stressed on empowering chief minister Gehlot further, the Sachin Pilot camp followers emphasised on fostering unity through an accommodative approach to strengthen the party.
Ved Prakash Solanki, an MLA from Chaksu in Jaipur and a staunch Sachin Pilot loyalist, said to the media, “I am fully satisfied. This is what we have been demanding. It is a serious exercise and will definitely bring good results.”
He demanded that the views of those Congress candidates who were defeated in the last assembly elections also be given a hearing.
Rafeek Khan, MLA from Adarsh Nagar in Jaipur, said his interaction centered around strengthening the party and government. He said he was asked on the performance of the government and the implementation of CM Chiranjeevi Health Insurance scheme.
Transport minister Pratap Singh Kachariyawas said his discussion focused on strengthening the party in the tribal areas of Udaipur as he is the district in-charge.
