Jaipur: Senior TOI journalist, Anindo Dey, passes away | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Anindo Dey, a senior journalist with The Times of India in the city, passed away on Wednesday after a two-year-long battle with cancer at a private hospital in Gurugram. He was 54.

Known for his keen interest in environmental issues, Anindo regularly reported on the challenges of relocating and conserving tigers. His reports highlighted the various problems faced by the big cats at Ranthambore and Sariska tiger reserves.
He also reported on illegal mining, the plight of mine workers, the MGNREGA programme and several other issues taken up under the RTI related to Rajasthan. His reports were well researched and insightful. A friendly and helpful person, he mentored and guided several budding journalists as a bureau chief.
In a career spanning over three decades, he worked with reputed media organisations like The Telegraph. An alumnus of the Madras Christian College, Anindo hailed from Ranchi, Jharkhand, and moved to Rajasthan in April 2008 after joining TOI’s Jaipur edition.
He was the assistant resident editor here and is survived by his mother Anjali, wife Bobby and daughter Anoushka.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra, BJP state chief Satish Poonia, and many political leaders took to Twitter to pay their tribute to journalist Anindo Dey on hearing the news of his passing away on Wednesday.
