Jaipur: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Thursday fielded Narendra Yadav for the post of president for University of Rajasthan student union elections.
Yadav has been a part of ABVP for almost seven years and will be contesting elections for the first time this year. He was one of the three ABVP representatives who climbed up a water tank on the university campus on August 6 demanding extension of dates for elections and 100% admissions before the elections.
The three ABVP representatives were up on the water tank for almost three days as part of the protest.
“We have seen the efforts of Yadav and his dedication towards student rights and that is why he has been selected. He is from a humble background and comes from a farmer’s family. We request all students to make him victorious by giving maximum number of votes and support,” said Hushyar Singh Meena, national secretary ABVP.
Yadav’s name was announced on Thursday evening after a high court judgment stating that those who are waiting to get admission in postgraduate courses should be allowed to contest the polls.
Yadav will be taking admission in LLM, said ABVP representatives.
