Jaipur logs 306 dengue cases in August | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Dengue is rearing its ugly head once again in the city. From August 1-18, the city reported 306 dengue cases which is an indication that the count may increase if coordinated efforts of health department, municipal corporation and people are not taken to prevent its spread in the coming days.
The cause of concern is that the number of cases has gone up significantly in August this year as compared to same month in past few years.
In August 2019, the city had reported 183 dengue cases, 38 persons were found infected in August in 2020, in August 2021, the city had reported 91 dengue cases. But, in August (from 1-18) 2022, the city has witnessed spike in dengue cases and reported 306 cases.
City hospitals and clinics are now witnessing patients coming with symptoms of dengue for treatment.
From January 1 to August 5, the city had reported 340 cases but in the next 13 days (August 6-18), the state added 272 more dengue cases.
A health department official said, with the rise in dengue cases this month, the health department will identify high risk areas across the state based on previous outbreaks of dengue and other vector borne diseases. For such areas, health department will plan strategy for strengthening monitoring, sampling, and treatment facilities.
The health department is taking measures to prevent spread of dengue by conducting anti-larvae activities and appealing people to take precaution by destroying breeding grounds of mosquitoes in their houses and around their surroundings.
Not only in Jaipur, but also in nearby districts, health department has begun their drives against dengue.
