Sholay: Raj Cops Use Sholay, 3 Idiots Photos On Official Twitter Handle For Warning About Cyber Crime | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Rajasthan Police’s Twitter account is appealing youths to stay away from following gangsters on social media and educating them not to fall prey to the tricks of cons. With 756k followers on Twitter, police have started using popular scenes from Sholay and 3 Idiots to warn people on cyber crime, fake friendship besides appealing them to stay away from fake profiles.
A social media team under the supervision of ADG (technical services) Sunil Dutt is working to make the messages meaningful so that it strikes a chord. To target criminals of Mewat region covering Bharatpur and Alwar who are duping people from all across the state and even from outside, the team has made a meme with Gabbar Singh chopping off the hands of Thakur in order to urge people not to share OTPs with anyone over phone.
“Yeh OTP humko de Thakur,” says the meme, adding “Gabbar dhamkayega, behkayega, par OTP dekar apne haath na katwayen.”
“There are two ways of doing it. For the long term, we pick a subject such as cyber crime and keep telling people through messages to save themselves from cyber frauds. And many-a-times, if some incident takes place, we make messages on it. Recently, we made a poster warning people not to follow gangsters on social media,” said Dutt.
He said a creative team makes a host of messages and after going through all, one text is selected to post it on the Twitter account.
To target fake people in the virtual world and their alluring messages, the team has termed it “Virtual Chocolate’. “Virtual chocolate ke jhanse main naa aayein, all is well kehna hai to cyber safety apnayen”. “This is aimed at educating the youths, especially those who celebrate Chocolate Day, Valentines Day, Rose Day and Propose Day,” he added.
For teen girls, police have come up with a message asking them how fake profiles on social media and fake people in digital world can harm them. “Kal Aaj aur Kal kabhie bhi aa sakta hai fake proposal,” the message says.
