JAIPUR: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad staged a protest outside the government residence of state education minister Subhash Garg on Saturday following the order of the state education commissionerate that all student union offices across the state should be inaugurated before February 10. For this, even approval of the concerned MLA will also be needed.
“This is a Tughlaqi decree issued by the Rajasthan government to ban the autonomy of the student union office of colleges. This order by the state government is extremely dictatorial. No permissions from any MLA or any other public representative is needed for inaugurating student union offices in colleges. Only the college authorities need to be informed about the date and the college union president can take the decision,” said HushyarMeena, national secretary of ABVP.
During this movement ABVP leaders and workers –mostly union leaders of the Rajasthan University were arrested by police.
