17-year-old Labourer Dies Of Suffocation Inside Old Well | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: A 17-year-old labourer who went down into an old well to clean it died from suffocation due to toxic gases as he got trapped in the swamp, while two other labourers who went down to rescue him fell unconscious, on Tuesday evening in Phalsoond police station area in Jaisalmer district.
Locals and Phalsoond police pulled out the three labourers and rushed them to hospital, where Pabu Ram was declared as dead and the other two were referred to Jodhpur. Family members of the deceased refused to take the body from the mortuary and on Wednesday staged a dharna. Police filed a case under IPC Section 304 and SC/ST Act against the owner of the well, Devi Singh, after the family lodged a complaint.
Phalsoond SHO Girdhar Singh Rathore said that the old well had been lying shut for a long time due to which it was filled with toxic gases. When Pabu Ram fell unconscious, two other labourers, Amraram and his son Chimnram, got into the well but both also fainted there.
