Admn Assures Aid, Family Takes Back Youth’s Body | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: Two youths, who had entered Army’s prohibited area in Pokhran field firing range in Lathi area of Jaisalmer on Monday, were stopped by the patrolling team. While fleeing, one fell down and got injured. He was brought to Pokhran hospital where he died. The deceased has been identified as Salman. The other youth has been identified as Usman Khan.
After persuasion by the district administration and the police for 30 hours on Tuesday, the matter was settled. Jaisalmer collector Tina Dabi and SP Bhanwar Singh Nathawat went to Pokhran and persuaded the family members and community after which the family members agreed for a post-mortem.
Dabi said that the post-mortem report which came on Tuesday revealed that the youth died due to head injury. The youth went into coma after the injury. There was no symptom of any assault by the army personnel on the body, she said. The family members were alleging assault by the army personnel.
The family members of the deceased lodged a report against six jawans. They were demanding arrest of the jawans and compensation of Rs 50 lakh and government job.
Army has lodged a case in Lathi police station.
Dabi said that the family members have been assured that as per rule the government help will be given. As cases have been filed against jawans, in such a situation, there are obstacles in getting the accidental claim, she said.
