JAIPUR: A student of the public administration department on Friday attempted self-immolation outside the vice-chancellor’s office at Rajasthan University.

The victim, identified as Dhanraj Chaudhary who was protesting outside the vice-chancellor’s office, alleged that the head of the department (HOD) did not allow him to appear for examination as his attendance was low. He also alleged that professors and officials were mentally harassing students. Students said that admit cards were not issued to by the department as they had missed the internal examinations.
“Admit cards are not being issued to students by the department and we are not being allowed to give the exams. Teachers in the department threaten students and say that we will fail. Some students who missed the internal exams had valid reasons and even took permission from the university authorities in advance, but still, we are not being allowed to sit for the exam,” said Chaudhary on Friday. Since the past few days students in the university have been protesting over various issues.
