Akshaya Tritiya: Ngos Urge Steps To End Child Marriages | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Ahead of Akshaya Tritiya, NGOs appealed to civil society to keep an eye on cases of child marriage and report them to the authorities. Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF) held a national consultation on ‘Child marriage-free India’ with several like-minded NGOs from across the country participating in it on Thursday.
The organisations brainstormed on the issue and suggested stringent measures to eliminate child marriages. The national consultation appealed to the government to implement Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA), 2006, sternly.
It was decided at the national consultation that an appeal should be made to the government and all political parties to raise the age limit of free education up to 18 years. Further, a special Child Marriage Fund or ‘Bal Vivah Nishedh Kosh’ may be created for girl students at government and non-government colleges.
