Allegations Made By The Cow Vigilante’s Family ‘baseless’, Claim Bharatpur Cops | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Bharatpur SP Shyam Singh termed the allegations of the family of one of the accused cow vigilantes in the murders of two Bharatpur youths as “baseless” on Sunday and claimed that the Rajasthan police team had gone to the village of the accused in Haryana but never entered his house.
The family had alleged that the state police had barged into their house and beaten up the accused’s pregnant wife, who later gave birth to a stillborn child.
The Bharatpur police said they were accompanied to the village of the accused, identified as Srikant, by the Nagina police of Nooh district in Haryana. One Dulari, who is the mother of cow vigilante Srikant, had submitted a written complaint in which she alleged that at least 30 to 40 unidentified policemen in Rajasthan police uniform had barged into her house at 3.30am on Friday.
“She stated that the policemen first asked for Srikant and then started beating up the family members. They beat up Kamlesh, Srikant’s pregnant wife. She was kicked in the abdomen area after which she complained of pain,” said a senior police officer with the Haryana police.
“She stated that the policemen first asked for Srikant and then started beating up the family members. They beat up Kamlesh, Srikant’s pregnant wife. She was kicked in the abdomen area after which she complained of pain. She was rushed to Mandikhera hospital where she turned critical. She was then further referred to Nalhar Medical College where she gave birth to a stillborn child,” said a senior police officer with the Haryana police. A copy of the Dulari’s complaint is with TOI.
It was also alleged that the police team took two brothers of Srikant with them and the family was unable to contact them.
Reacting to the allegations, Bharatpur SP Singh said, “Yes, we had gone to the village but never went to the house of Srikant. The Nagina police told us that Srikant was not at his home. So, we took two of his brothers and later released them after questioning. As far as the allegations of beating up a pregnant woman are concerned, we never met her since we were a little far from her house. All these allegations are baseless.”
SP Varun Singla of Nuh district in Haryana said, “On the allegations against the Rajasthan police, a team has been formed, led by Nuh additional SP Usha Kundu, to investigate it. Legal action will be taken against those found guilty.”
He said the allegations that a baby had died in the womb after a pregnant woman was beaten up were very serious. “We are investigating the matter and will act against whoever is found responsible,” said Singla at a press conference in Haryana.
Last Wednesday, Nasir and Junaid alias Juna were allegedly abducted by cow vigilantes from Bharatpur. Their bodies were found inside a burnt car in Loharu in Haryana’s Bhiwani on Thursday. Following the incident, the Rajasthan police were on the lookout for the culprits, including the accused Srikant.
