Armoured Regiment: 43rd Armoured Regiment Celebrates Its 43rd Raising Day | Jaipur News
JAISALMER: The 43rd Armoured Regiment celebrated its 43rd year in service. The momentous occasion was celebrated from February 8 to 11 with serving and retired officers, junior commissioned officers, other ranks and families in attendance. Lieutenant General Rakesh Kapoor, General Officer Commanding of the Jodhpur based Konark Corps and Colonel of the regiment presided over the entire event in Jaisalmer Military station.
The 43rd Armoured Regiment nicknamed ‘Charioteers’ was raised on February 1, 1981 at Ahmednagar by the then Lieutenant Colonel (later Lieutenant General) B M Kapur, based on a mixed class composition. It is the only regiment of the Armoured Corps to have gone through equipment transition thrice in its service. It currently holds the latest piece of the Indian tank arsenal, the MBT Arjun.
The event commenced with an event at temple, Gurudwara and mosque to seek the almighty’s blessings. The colonel of the Regiment with the previous Commandants addressed the troops and families and felicitated individuals for their impeccable service at the Regiment Sainik Sammelan. The regiment continues to excel in all fields. tnn
