Ashok Gehlot: 2008 Jaipur serial bomb blasts case: Sachin Pilot takes a swipe at CM Ashok Gehlot’s home department for shoddy probe | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Forcing Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot yet again on the back foot, rival and former deputy CM Sachin Pilot pointed fingers at the home department under the CM over the acquittal of four convicts in the 2008 Jaipur serial bomb blasts case.
“Those accused for the blasts were caught and sentenced to death by the lower court. But they were acquitted due to poor investigation. This is a very serious matter and action should be taken against those responsible,” Pilot said while speaking to the media at his residence in the city on Thursday.
The state government is accountable to the victims who must get justice, he said. “We are answerable for those who died in their homes. It is necessary to punish those who have committed the crime. It is our responsibility to take this matter to a logical conclusion,” he said.
“The lower court had sentenced them to death. It is a different matter to reduce the sentence. But because of a shoddy investigation, they were released and it is a matter of serious concern,” Pilot said, asking the government to immediately file an appeal against the acquittal. tnn
