JAISALMER: There have allegedly been irregularities in the distribution of claims of Barmer farmers for crop insurance for kharif 2021 with their accounts getting credited with petty amounts like 2 paise, 4 paise, Re 1, Rs 10, Rs 20 as compensation. This has led to huge resentment and disappointment among farmers.
The agriculture ministry will hold a meeting on crop insurance claims which will be attended by agriculture insurance company CMD, CEO, MED, finance ministry officers, Rajasthan government agriculture department officers and agriculture ministry officers.
According to information, the farmers went for an insurance with AIC on 10 lakh hectares of agriculture land. In 2022, due to severe drought, the crops got burnt and farmers demanded claims as per the damage standards of the company.

The state government gets crop insurance of farmers through an agreement with the AIC and it is their responsibility to get the claim. Now holding the Centre responsible for this, the state government is shirking away from its responsibility.
