BJP Worker: Shattered BJP worker attempts suicide after Gunjal’s defeat in Kota North election | Jaipur News

Kota: Unable to bear the defeat of his leader Prahlad Gunjal in the election contest for Kota North, a BJP worker, in slightly inebriated condition, attempted suicide by drinking Harpic toilet cleaner in the bathroom of his house, under Nayapura police station, on Sunday night. He was rushed to hospital, where his condition is stated to be out of danger.
Surjeet Singh, the BJP worker, had been working hard for the victory of Gunjal against Congress candidate Shanti Dhariwal.According to Surjeet’s mother, her son reached home on Sunday night in slightly inebriated condition, muttering “Mere bhaisahab haar gaye (my brother has been defeated)” and went into the bathroom. There he consumed the toilet cleaner liquid and after some time began vomiting. He was rushed to MBS hospital, where he is still under treatment.
Speaking to the media from the hospital bed, Singh said, “We were confident of the win and had even started celebrating with firecrackers at noon.”
Gunjal and his office staff came to check on Singh and urged doctors to give him proper medical care.
However, SHO at Nayapura, Harish Choudhary, said he did not have information about any party worker having consumed some poisonous substance.
