In this year, so far, temperatures started rising from mid-March and April has been hottest this year. The Jaipur Met office stated that this year, many places in western Rajasthan are likely to get its maximum temperatures above the normal notch.
On Sunday there was no respite from the scorching heat conditions when the majority of the places got their maximum temperatures above the normal notch. Bikaner remained the hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 47. 1 °C was recorded.
People in Jaipur got up to a warmer morning as a minimum temperature of 29. 8 °C, almost 5 degrees above the normal notch was recorded. It was followed by a sultry afternoon as the maximum temperature of 43. 8 °C, almost 4 degrees above the normal notch was recorded. In the afternoon, roads were empty as people confined themselves to their homes. In this season, so far, Jaipur has been getting its maximum temperatures above the normal notch. “It is not very unusual as in 2017 too Jaipur had a similar kind of climate,” said a Jaipur Met official.
In the evening dust storms and cloudy conditions were witnessed in Jaipur and other districts including Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar, Dausa, Alwar, Jhunjhu-nu, Bharatpur and Karauli.
In Jaipur high velocity winds were witnessed and were followed by scattered rainfall. “Drizzling occurred in and around Jaipur for few minutes which too failed to provide any relief from the scorching heat conditions,” the officer added.
In its forecast Jaipur Met office stated that showers and dust storms will continue on Monday and Tuesday at many places in the state.
