Bpl: Alwar Mla Raises Issue Of Bpl Status For Divyangs | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Alwar urban MLA Sanjay Sharma called the attention of government (under Rule 131) on the guidelines of providing BPL benefits to the families of specially-abled pensioners at the state assembly on Sunday.
Former commissioner for specially-abled persons Khillimal Jain too raised the issue of providing BPL status to persons with disabilities (PwDs) in the state. Jain wrote to CM Ashok Gehlot requesting him to issue BPL cards to them.
Hemant Bhai Goyal, national vice president of Divyang Adhikar Mahasangh, had also written to the chief minister in this regard. “The department has not issued any guidelines for the scheme. Due to this, there is a confusion among these families about the benefits of the scheme. At present, there are about 6.20 lakh specially-abled pensioners in the state. In this way, a population of about 25 lakh comes under the purview of this scheme,” said Goyal.
Goyal also raised the issue of guidelines issued by the directorate of specially-abled persons (on December 12, 2022) which mentions that an additional Rs 1,000 will be provided to specially-abled pensioners only with 100% disability as caregiver allowance every month.
“Even persons with 80%, 85% or 90% disability may require the assistance of a caregiver in performing daily chores. How can the department decide that only persons with 100% disability would require support or assistance in performing daily chores,” he said.
