Bribery Case: Glare on mayor of JMC-H after hubby’s arrest in bribery case | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seized a trove of files related to lease deed applications during searches at the residence of Sushil Gurjar, the husband of Jaipur Municipal Corporation – Heritage (JMC-H) mayor Munesh Gurjar, officers said on Saturday.

As many as 12 important files were found, and five of them have aroused significant suspicion due to their potential connection to the bribery case in which Sushil was arrested by ACB on Friday, said sources. There is a strong possibility of the mayor being interrogated in connection with this case as well, they said, adding that a notice may be issued to her before she is called for questioning.
Sushil Gurjar was arrested by ACB on Friday night for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for issuing a land deed to a person. Two middlemen – Narayan Singh and Anil Dubey – were also arrested by ACB in the case. All three accused have been remanded to police custody for two days.

While being escorted to the court, Sushil claimed that a conspiracy was being hatched against him and that he was unable to understand the reasons.
Search operation started by ACB officials at Sushil’s house at Adarsh Colony on Hatwara Road in Hasanpura at around 8pm on Friday continued till 4am on Saturday. “We will thoroughly examine all the recovered files to ascertain their content and the reason behind their presence in Sushil’s house.
He will be questioned as to whether he was aware of these lease deed applications. We will also inquire into people handling these documents,” said a senior ACB official. Munesh is likely to face scrutiny as ACB could inquire whether she was aware of her husband’s alleged illegal dealings.
