Campaign To Make Dudu Plastic Free |
Jaipur: Dudu collector has kicked off a campaign for declaring the new district free of plastic. The campaign discourages use of banned plastic items while encourages the use of plastic for manufacturing tiles and road construction.
“Since Dudu is one of the newly formed districts, we are taking measures to make it free from plastic. The single-use plastic, which is banned, should not be used in the district, we are encouraging people to follow it,” said, Artika Shukla, collector, Dudu.
The district collector instructed officials to prevent use of single-use plastic items such as ear buds with plastic sticks, plastic sticks for balloons, plastic flags, candy sticks, ice- cream sticks, polystyrene for decoration, plates, cups, glasses, cutlery such as forks, spoons, knives, straw, trays, wrapping or packing films around sweet boxes, invitation cards, and cigarette packets.

College staffer clears beaches of plastic waste
Bapi Gochhayat, a Class IV employee of Paradip College, has been cleaning beaches and river mouths for three years, collecting over three tonnes of single-use plastic waste. He gives the waste to Paradip Municipality for recycling. Bapi’s dedication has inspired others to join the cause, forming a group of environment enthusiasts. His efforts have been praised by the local community, politicians, and environmental organizations. Bapi’s initiative aligns with efforts to promote recycling and create a cleaner and greener world.

NGO to organise plastic collection drive this week
Bharat Soka Gakkai, an NGO in India, has launched a plastic collection drive to combat plastic pollution. The initiative encourages sustainable human behavior and recycling. Members in Delhi-NCR will deposit plastic waste at designated hubs, which will then be collected and sent for recycling. The NGO aims to collect and recycle 25,000 kg of plastic waste. Sanjay Kumar, director general of Development Monitoring & Evaluation Office, Niti Aayog, emphasized the need for combined efforts from all segments of society to tackle plastic pollution.
