Cash, Land Row Likely Behind Attack On Bharatpur Wrestler | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A day after arresting four persons from Haryana in connection with firing and assault of a 40-year-old man in Bharatpur, the police on Monday stated that extortion and a land related dispute could be the possible reasons behind the attack. Police said that they were yet to get detailed statements of the injured man as he is in hospital.
On Sunday notorious gangster Vinod Pathena and his three aides were injured in a shootout with the police in Bharatpur when they tried to escape by firing at the cops in the wee hours. All were arrested after they fired at and assaulted Gajendra Singh alias Lala Pehalwan outside a gym situated at Bharatpur’s Atalband police station area. “It appears that Lala Pehalwan, who is also a history-sheeter and takes contracts for parking lots had rivalry over a piece of land that was also being eyed by Haryana gangsters. Also, there are some hints that he received extortion calls which he concealed from the police. These could be possible reasons for the attack,” said a senior police officer.
On Saturday evening a special team of Bharatpur police had detained four men who were travelling in a black SUV in Gurugram.
The team was bringing the four to Bharatpur in separate vehicles when shortly after 12.05am on Sunday, the accused requested the cops to briefly pull over on the Sonkh-Kumher road of the district on the pretext of relieving themselves.
