Jaipur: The women and child development department is focusing on community support to pregnant women and new mothers to improve maternal health. For this, discussions were held in the city on Tuesday as part of a multi-state dialogue on ‘Cash Plus Interventions for Improving Maternal and Child Nutrition Outcomes’.
Officials said that along with direct bank transfers, the department has started organising events like baby showers, annaprashan (first meal of a child), and awareness sessions at anganwadi centres.
Jitendra Upadhyay, secretary for women and child development, said, “Cash Plus means that apart from direct cash transfer, it is ensured that the amount received is used for targeted nutrition.” TNN
