Chaksu: District Court Cancels Chaksu Municipal Chairman’s Election | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: The district court (Metro) of Jaipur declared the election of Nagar Palika Chaksu chairman Kamlesh Bairwa null and void and ordered a fresh election to the post. Bairwa contested for the post of councillor on the Congress party ticket and after being elected as councillor, contested for the post of chairman on Congress, in which he was declared victorious by one vote.
In the election, the BJP candidate for the post of chairman was Vinod Rajoria, who had filed a petition against the election of Bairwa as chairman and councillor.
The petitioner said Bairwa was a contractor under Nagar Palika Chaksu on the date of the election, therefore he was not eligible for election to the post of councillor and chairman as per the provisions of Section 24 of the Municipal Act 2009.
Prahlad Sharma counsel for the petitioner said Bairwa had contested the election by hiding the fact of his being a contractor, due to which the court accepted the election petition by Rajoria and cancelled the election of Bairwa.
