Challans, Dept Action Against Three Cops For Flouting Traffic Norms | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A day after Rajasthan police issued a direction that police personnel flouting traffic rules will have to pay heavy penalties, the city traffic police issued a challan to a staff of an interceptor vehicle for violating seat-belt norms and using a phone while driving.
A senior police official said that a video of an interceptor vehicle showed driver Gada Ram, ASI Babu Lal, and constable Durga Lal driving without seat belts.
Police said that the driver was using his mobile phone while driving. Officials said that department action will also be taken against the three personnel.
Rajasthan police on Tuesday issued a circular that stipulated that personnel flouting traffic norms in Rajasthan will have to pay double the amount of traffic challans and face departmental action.
Additional DGP (Traffic) V K Singh said that a circular was issued that stipulates that all personnel of Rajasthan police must follow traffic norms or face action.
An official said that the PHQ has also asked all district traffic police officials to strictly enforce traffic rules. “We have been implementing e-challan systems that would generate automatic challans and thereby minimise the need for any interactions,” said an official.
The traffic division of Rajasthan police said they were trying to make automatic challans more seamless.
“We have recently deployed new interceptors with automatic number plate readers (ANPRs) that will record traffic violations and send the stream to the control room. The ANPR cameras would identify the vehicle by its number plate and generate an e-challan,” the official said.
