Chambal: Mp Woman Throws ‘stunted’ Toddler Son Into Chambal, Held | Jaipur News
KOTA: Police here arrested a 26-year-old woman on Wednesday evening on charges of killing her 4-year-old son by throwing him into the river Chambal, at Adharsheela under Dadabari police station area of the city on Tuesday.
Identified as Dil Afroz, wife of Shakeer, resident of Sheopur district in Madhya Pradesh, the woman took the drastic step because she was fed up with the stunted physical and mental growth of her son, Circle Officer (CO) DSP Amar Singh said.
The woman told police during interrogation that accompanied by her 6-year-old daughter, she took her 4-year-old son Yameen to Kota, travelling about 90 kilometers by bus from Mangrole town in Baran district, where she had come on Monday to attend a wedding function with her husband, and reached Kota Tuesday late morning.
She hired an auto rickshaw to Adharsheela, on the bank of the Chambal in Dadabari area, where after performing prayers at the mosque, she threw her son into the river and returned with her daughter, she told the police.
On her way back, the cleric at the mosque inquired about the boy that was with her, but she avoided replying, DSP Singh said.
Later in the day on Tuesday, the cleric informed police of a boy’s body floating in the Chambal river, following which police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
The identity could only be ascertained on Wednesday after interrogation of the accused woman and her husband, who runs a tailoring shop in his native village in Sheopur district.
