Chaos Continues At Mehangai Rahat Camps On Day 2 | Jaipur News

Jaipur: On Day-2 of the “Mehangai Rahat Camps” campaign on Tuesday, people in Jaipur said they waited for hours but received neither tokens nor could get themselves registered.
People seeking relief at the camps said they were being made to run from one place to another, but no official was able to give them a clear idea about documents required for the registration process. They claimed that even after bringing the correct set of documents, their registration could not be completed due to the employees’ strike.
Jagdish Yogi, who came to a relief camp in the Walled City from Chandpole Purani Basti, said, “I came yesterday and there was so much crowd that I could not get a registration done. Today again, I have been waiting since 8am. I mainly want to avail the free ration benefit and 125 days of urban employment guarantee scheme. When my turn came today before lunch, the officials told me that my ration card is not active, and I was sent to the collectorate. When I went there, I was sent back here because employees are on strike. Now, here, officials are not there and there is no update.”
Residents were waiting at the relief camp even in the afternoon to get tokens, as they complained that officials were not accessible and there was no information regarding the correct set of documents needed.
“I work as a daily wage labourer and today I took a leave and came for the registration as we knew that this camp will be there only for two days. Waiting since early morning and we still have not received even a token for the registration process. There is no one to guide regarding the documents also, how many photocopies are needed. Along with the list of schemes, a list of documents should also be pasted somewhere so that there is no confusion,” said Anwar.
In the election year, the Gehlot-government has come up with 10 schemes to help people fight inflation but to avail the benefits, it has been made mandatory that people should first get themselves registered at the ‘inflation relief camps’.
Officials said that there is no provision of online registration for the relief camp yet.
“At present, there is no option of registering oneself online for the Mehangai Rahat Camps and registration process will happen at the camps itself. Camps will be set up at different public places for the next two months. For schemes, where beneficiaries are already registered, re-registration will not be required. Only for schemes, a beneficiary wants to avail, they will have to register,” said Mohammed Abubakr, additional district magistrate (south) Jaipur.
Meanwhile, JMC-Greater commissioner Mahendra Soni inspected camps set up in the city on Tuesday and gave instructions to strengthen the arrangements. From April 26, permanent inflation relief camps will be set up at a total of 37 places in seven zones, which will remain functional till June 30.
