Chiranjeevi Scheme Greatest Draw With 6.3l Registrations | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Over 6.3 lakh registrations have been made for Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme at ‘inflation relief camps’ across the state in two days.
The Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana has become popular among people after its coverage was increased to Rs 25 lakh annually this year. At these camps, people are coming in large numbers to register themselves under the scheme.
Private hospitals too are showing interest in the scheme and hospitals that had signed for de-empanelment as a mark of protest with regard to Right to Health Bill are also providing treatment under the scheme.
About 980 private hospitals have been empanelled under the scheme in state.
Earlier, the state government had given coverage of Rs 10 lakh per family annually under the scheme, but in the budget announcement 2023-24, the coverage was increased.
“The beneficiaries were getting Rs 10 lakh coverage under the scheme earlier. Now, as the coverage has been increased from Rs10 lakh to Rs25 lakh, beneficiaries have to get themselves registered for becoming eligible for Rs25 lakh coverage. The camps are being organized in the city and also in the state to facilitate beneficiaries to get registered,” said Dr Vijay Singh, chief medical health officer (Jaipur-I), health department.
Apart from Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme, people are coming to the camps for registering themselves for nine other schemes. The registration under 10 different schemes can be done at the camps.
Chiranjeevi scheme is gaining popularity as it will help beneficiaries get treatment not only in government hospitals but also in private hospitals. Private hospitals are also taking interest in the scheme.
“Nearly 35% private hospitals in the state are empanelled under Chiranjeevi scheme. In Jaipur, around 185 private hospitals are providing treatment under the scheme and around 980 hospitals are included in state,” said Dr Vijay Kapoor, secretary, Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Society (PHNHS).
During the strike against Right to Health (RTH) Bill, the private hospitals had stopped providing treatment under the scheme.
Representatives of private hospitals had collected signed letters from such hospitals for de-empanellment from the scheme for pressuring the state government to fulfil their demands. “We still have letters of almost all the empanelled hospitals, if the government flouts the MoU which we had signed for calling off the strike, we will submit the letters of de-empanellment to the state government,” said Kapoor, adding that currently all the empanelled hospitals are providing treatment under Chiranjeevi scheme.
