JAIPUR: A 28-year-old woman has alleged that comedian Khyaliram Saharan, who joined AAP last year, raped her inside a hotel in the city’s Mansarovar area on Saturday.
The Mansarovar police registered an FIR under IPC sections 376 (rape), and 354 (assault of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) on Sunday.
The woman alleged that she had gone to meet the comedian with her friend in the hotel to find work in the entertainment industry. The woman was staying with her friend in one room while Saharan was staying in another room in the same hotel.
According to the FIR, Saharan called the woman and her friend to his room for dinner where he allegedly forced her to smoke an imported cigarette. TNN

He promised to get her a job in a show that pays Rs 2,500 daily. The woman said that the comedian was in an inebriated condition and also tried to touch her friend inappropriately.
She told the cops that when her friend went out of the room to attend a call, the accused allegedly locked the door from the inside and raped her. She also alleged that she and her friend confronted the accused after the incident, but he allegedly threatened them and later fled from the hotel.
Meanwhile, Saharan denied the allegations and filed a complaint with the Hanumangarh police station.In his complaint to the district police, Saharan said that an unidentified woman called him a month ago and asked him to get her a job as she was from a very poor family. She called him again and insisted that she wanted to meet him, but he declined due to his busy schedule.
According to Saharan, the woman kept calling him and threatened to commit suicide if she doesn’t get any work soon. He advised her not to take any extreme step even though she kept on asking him to meet her.He said he came to Jaipur on Saturday to attend a wedding with his family. As the woman kept calling him, he agreed to meet her but not alone.
The woman then claimed that she would meet him with her sister at the hotel.He said that when he met the woman at the hotel later, she began threatening and blackmailing him.The city police, however, said that an investigation was still going on in the case.
“We will speak to the woman and her friend about the incident. The hotel’s CCTVs are being examined. Therefore, it is too early for us to conclude anything until we have strong evidence,” said an officer.
