Five assailants shot Theth outside his house on Piprali Road under Udyog Nagar police station area in Sikar city at 9.30am, police said.
Soon after the hit, Rohit Godara, who introduced himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility through a FB post. Theth, who had several cases against him since he entered the world of crime in 1995, was on bail for past three months.

Jat groups call bandh in Sikar today, cops on alert
He was a rival of dreaded criminal Anandpal Singh, who was killed in a police encounter in June 2017. Police said Theth had nearly 36 cases against him and in majority of the cases, he was acquitted by courts.
Footage of the incident, which has since gone viral, showed Theth standing outside his house when a tractor carrying sugarcane comes and stops. “Five men are then seen taking position and before Theth could understand what was happening, one of the assailants fired at him point blank. He was then joined by other gang members who rained bullets on the gangster,” Sikar SP Kunwar Rastadeep said.
He said Theth collapsed on the spot and was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The SP said a man, who had come to drop his daughter at a coaching institute in the locality where Theth lived, was also shot dead by the assailants. Police later identified the second victim as Tara Chand Kadwasara.
Senior police officers, who rushed to the spot, said efforts were on to trace the suspects. “We have also informed our Jhunjhunu counterparts bordering Haryana to keep a watch on the movement of the assailants,” the SP added.
Theth’s family was screaming for help as he was lying in the pool of blood. Till late evening, his family was not willing to give nod for the post-mortem, police said .
An hour after the murder, Godara wrote on Facebook, “It was revenge for Anandpal Singh and Balbir Banuda”. In the evening, Godara, through another Facebook post, regreted the killing of Kadwasara. “We will always help his family as he was wrongly targeted,” he said.
“Whatever Godara has written on Facebook will be confirmed only after the arrests. It could be a deception tactic,” the SP added. Meanwhile, various Jat groups called a bandh in Sikar on Sunday demanding arrest of the killers. “Sikar and Jhunjhunu police are working in close coordination. We have identified four assailants,” said DGP Umesh Mishra.
