Quality Of Life: Bhilwara Cops Seize 293kg Silver Ingots | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A special team from the Bhilwara district police seized over 293 kg of silver ingots worth over Rs 2.22 crore during a search for a private travel company’s bus on Wednesday.
Additional SP (Bhilwara) Vimal Singh Nehra informed TOI that the police teams had received information about a large consignment of silver ingots being moved in the bus without any bills.
Acting on this information, the police teams went to the scene where the bus was parked near a hotel and questioned the driver, a courier boy, and another individual about the large quantity of silver ingots in the bus’s trunk. The three were detained, and the entire silver haul was seized by the police.
“We have informed the Income Tax and Commercial Tax departments about the seizure as they are the authorities responsible for such cases,” said Nehra.
The officials said that the information about the amount of silver found was shared quickly with the tax authorities. The nodal officers from the concerned departments arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The police officials detained the bus driver and the people transporting the silver. Officials stated that inquiries are being made to determine the source and destination of the silver.

Gold prices in India rose by Rs 500 to reach Rs 60,650 per 10 grams, driven by strong global cues. The surge in prices was attributed to a positive trend in the overseas market. Similarly, silver prices also increased by Rs 1,000 to reach Rs 74,700 per kilogramme. In international markets, gold and silver were trading higher at $1,937 per ounce and $23.10 per ounce, respectively. The demand for safe-haven assets intensified due to the widening turmoil in the Middle East.
