covid: Post-covid Complications In 3rd Wave Less Than 2nd | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Since severity of the third wave of Covid was less compared to the first wave, post-Covid complication has also not been witnessed much.
However, the number of patients affected with post-Covid complications were almost negligible in comparison to the third wave. Hospitalisations due to post-Covid complications were less than 1% in the third wave compared to over 10% in the second wave, doctors said.

During the second wave, the health department had issued separate guidelines for post-Covid complications, but this time around, the department did not find any requirement to issue such a guideline as complications were not reported in the same proportions.
Though negligible post-Covid complications have been reported, the pattern of complications in the third wave was similar to the pattern of the second. “We received some cases who have Covid pneumonia and having HRCT score more than 20. Today (Monday), we have received a patient with HRCT score of 22. Cases of Covid pneumonia have been reported in third wave, too. The pattern of post-Covid complications is the same in the third wave compared to the second,” said Dr Ajit Singh, superintendent, dedicated Covid RUHS Hospital.
Among pregnant women too, severity of Covid and post-Covid complications were not seen, which were seen during the second wave. “This time, the severity of the virus among pregnant women is less compared to the first and second waves. Barring one, none of the women required oxygen support,”said Dr Shalini Rathore, Covid in-charge at Mahila Chikitsalaya.
