Crime branch busts illegal liquor racket in Jaipur; 4 cops suspended | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The Jaipur police on Sunday suspended four beat constables and initiated an inquiry against station house officers (SHOs) of various stations after a crime branch team busted a major spurious liquor manufacturing and packaging racket.

The racket was selling bootleg liquor of several well-known brands of whisky, rum and vodka. Additional commissioner of police (crime) Ajay Pal Lamba said the police arrested 10 persons from four illegal liquor plants and warehouses run by the racket. While the first plant was operating in Shikarpura under the Sanganer Sadar police station area, the second was in Kokabas under the same station. Two warehouses were found in the Shivdaspura police station area.
“We have arrested 10 persons who were working in these places,” Lamba said, adding that the city police have suspended four beat constables for intelligence failure. “Action will also be taken against the concerned SHOs,” he said.

Additional DCP (crime) Sulesh Choudhary said that the accused were using machines to produce and pack illegal liquor. An automatic machine was used to mix water and spirit to produce spurious liquor for sale.
The racket was operating from rented places. “The accused began their operation in September last year. We will also arrest people who helped print labels of known liquor brands,” he said.
Police also seized eight vehicles, including two trucks, used by the gang. “Several barrels of spirits and a huge quantity of cartons of liquor have beenseized,” Lamba said.
One official claimed that the action was taken at the right time to avert a major tragedy.
