Defamation Case: Defamation Case Against Gehlot: Hearing On Aug 28 | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday appeared before the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi through video conferencing from Udaipur in the criminal defamation case filed against him by Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The court fixed August 28 as the next date of hearing of the case.
Gehlot had earlier appeared in court through video conferencing on August 7. The case pertains to Shekhawat claiming that the CM defamed him by saying that he and his family members were accused in the Sanjeevani scam.
After the Rouse Avenue Court issued summons against Gehlot on July 6, the CM had filed a revision in the sessions court against it but got no relief. He was, however, allowed to appear through video conferencing.
During the hearing on August 1, it was said on Gehlot’s behalf that he also handles the home department and that SOG reports to him since he is the home minister of the state. It was mentioned that Gehlot shared with the media the information he said SOG had given him regarding the Sanjeevani scam. The names of Shekhawat’s family members were also in the complaint received by SOG regarding the scam, it was mentioned.
Shekhawat’s advocates argued that none of the Union minister’s family members was named in any complaint and the alleged facts were collected by SOG only after the defamation case was filed.
