Dhariwal Visits Rcg, Instructs Jda To Fence Unused Piece Of Land | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Urban development and housing (UDH) minister Shanti Dhariwal paid a visit to Rambagh Golf Club (RGC) on Friday morning and ordered officials of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to fence the unutilised land located within the compound, measuring around 3 bighas (11,000 square metre), with immediate effect.
On March 30, TOI had reported that JDA is allowing the officials of the RCG to utilise this piece of land for the expansion of the golf course cutting down the trees, a few of which are age-old.
“Along with the 18-hole golf course, RCG has a utilised a land of around 3 bighas. I had received a compliant that RCG members are cutting down trees. I had ordered JDA officials to put a fence surrounding this land so that no one can cut any tree,” said Shanti Dhariwal after the inspection.
Following instruction from the minister, JDA officials decided to carry out the fencing. “I have already instructed the officials concerned to start fencing the piece of land with immediate effect. We are going to start the job with immediate effect,” Ravi Jain, JDA commissioner, told TOI.
RGC members and officials, however, refuted the allegations and claimed they were only cleaning the land. “This land of JDA is a part of the 89 acres of the golf course. It is situated in the middle of the course and turned into a dumpyard over the years. The club administration is removing unwanted plants and carrying out plantation,” said golf course captain Shirish Sancheti.
“The land is a part of the Central Park and that the civic bodies had submitted an affidavit in the HC saying it would be utilised as public land and for plantation. Even the HC had earmarked the land for plantation after its possession was taken by the owner of a private stud farm. We had brought the issue to JDA’s knowledge but no action has been taken against the golf club,” said Yogesh Yadav, president of Central Park Bachao Sangharh Samiti (CPBSS).
Advocates Vijay Singh Puniya and Vimal Chaudhuri, who had spearheaded the movement, said an FIR will be filed against JDA officials concerned to allow the practice of chopping off trees inside RCG compound.
