Differences With Pilot Settled, Claims Cm | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: For the first time after he and his bete noire Sachin Pilot held a meeting with the central leaders of Congress in Delhi recently, chief minister Ashok Gehlot has claimed that the party’s high command has settled the differences between him and Pilot. But he did not disclose the formula of the settlement.
Gehlot said both he and Pilot agreed in the presence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal and SS Randhawa to fight the upcoming Assembly elections unitedly. The question is not of individuals but of party and nation, he said in an interview to YouTube news portal Lallantop.
“Hamare sulah permanent, hum kabhi alag nahi huye,” (Our rapprochement is permanent. We were never separated) said Gehlot in reply to a question. Speaking on his first meeting with Pilot, the CM said, “I met him for the first time when he was hardly two and a half years old as his father Rajesh Pilot and I were elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 1980.”
AICC in-charge for Rajasthan SS Randhawa earlier claimed that the high command had proposed a formula at the meeting and that it was agreed by both Gehlot and Pilot, while sources in the Pilot camp had claimed that the Delhi talks remained inconclusive.
Talking about Pilot’s rebellion in 2020, Gehlot said in the interview, “It was a very unfortunate development. I do not want to discuss it. If I speak something and he reacts, then the distance will increase. We want to maintain love and harmony.”
“I have forgiven all. When we all came out of the hotel in Jaisalmer (in 2020), my first comment was to forget and forgive. Whether any leader maintains good relations with me or not, today Congress needs everyone, and the nation needs Congress,” said Gehlot.
Stressing the need for maintaining unity in the party, he said, “If we fight united, we will retain the government in Rajasthan. It is in the nation’s interest for Congress to form the government in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and put a break on BJP’s ego.”
Gehlot also expressed confidence that Congress would retain power in Rajasthan. “We have given such a good performance in Rajasthan that I hope Congress would repeat its government here,” he said.
On Pilot’s demand for disbanding RPSC over the paper leak, Gehlot said, “I examined the demand as he (Pilot) is a member of our party, and I gave it due weight, but it is not possible since it (RPSC) is a constitutional body.”
