Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Rampal starrer ‘Jaswant Singh Khalra’ biopic gets a new name, the film will premiere at Toronto Film Festival | Hindi Movie News

Diljit Dosanjh‘s next which is a biopic on human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra has surrounded itself into controversies since the last few months. The Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) had suggested 21 cuts to the film and along with an ‘A’ certificate. The makers had a problem with that and went against the CBFC’s decision in the court, hence, producer Ronnie Screwvalahas filed a petition at the Bombay High Court.Amidst all that, the film now has a new title.

Earlier, the film was titled ‘Ghallughara’ but the new title is now ‘Punjab ’95’. It shall also premiere at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival. Diljit shared the film’s poster along with this announcement. He wrote, “World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival! Presenting the first look of Punjab ‘95, a compelling story based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra Ji 🙏🏽”
Arjun Rampal is also elated with this as he tweeted, “A very proud moment for us. Can’t wait for everyone to see it. World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival! Presenting the first look of Punjab ‘95, a compelling story based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.”

The premiere date at the TIFF is likely to be September 11. Reportedly, the makers have been trying to get a censor certificate since December, however there’s been a delay from the board’s end and when the decision finally came, they suggested 21 cuts.
‘Punjab ’95’ is directed by Honey Trehan. Meanwhile, the team’s efforts continue to get it a smooth release here
