Farmers: Farmers Submit Memo To Collector Over Less Canal Water For Irrigation | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: Farmers in Jaisalmer district submitted a memorandum to district collector Tina Dabi at the district headquarters protesting against less water from Indira Gandhi canal. They complained that due to carelessness of the officers of Indira Gandhi Nahar Pariyojna department, their share of the canal water is reaching other districts.
In the memorandum, the farmers said the canal department had fixed the irrigation programme for Rabi crop 2023 under which 2100 cusec water share was fixed for Jaisalmer zone, but due to the carelessness of the officers and employees of the canal department, the district is getting only 500-600 cusecs. They alleged that the remaining share of the canal water is going to Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner districts due to which the rabi crops in Jaisalmer are getting damaged.
Farmer leader Sabhan Khan said the rabi crop is on the stage of ripening but irrigation water is not available due to which farmers are losing hopes.
“Due to lack of water, around 50-60% production has been affected and even now the canal department is not making proper arrangements of water supply,” he added. tnn
