Discom: Discom To Give 51.62cr As Interest On Power Consumers Security Deposits | Jaipur News
Jaipur: As per the orders of Rajasthan State Electricity Regulatory Commission, electricity consumers in the state will get interest on their security money deposited with the discom.
Jaipur discom on Monday said that the deposits will attract interest of 4.25%, at the level of bank rate. The interest will be adjusted against their electricity bill amount.
Jaipur discom’s managing director RN Kumawat said that a total interest of Rs 51.62 crore will be given to the electricity consumers of Jaipur discom for 2022-23 on their security deposit at the bank rate of 4.25%. This interest amount will be adjusted in their electricity bill for the month of June and July, 2023, said Kumawat.
Every year, discoms adjust the interest on security deposits against the bills.
Information about adjustments would be sent to the consumers on their registered mobile numbers. Simultaneously, consumers can also check the interest amount on Bijli Mitra app. Security deposits are shown in the electricity bill and if there is any difference in the deposit and the interest, consumers can approach the assistant engineer concerned for fixing it, said a Jaipur discom statement. Security deposit, which is equal to two months of electricity consumption, is collected from consumers. The same interest will also be provided by Jodhpur and Ajmer discoms.
