Divyangs Wait For Udid As Raj Yet To Use Centre’s Portal | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: In a bid to provide relief to specially-abled persons in applying for unique ID (UDID) cards, the state government had decided to close down the state-run portal for persons with disabilities (PwDs) and use only the centre’s Swavalamban portal to issue UDID cards. However, while the state government is in the process of shifting gears from state-run portal to GOI-run portal, some specially-abled persons of Rajasthan are still waiting for UDID cards to be issued, having applied on the centre’s portal about 2 to 4 years ago.
Om Prakash Mittal (81), who lives in Malviya Nagar, had applied for a UDID card on the centre’s Swavalamban portal on May 29, 2021. “I have not received my UDID card yet. It has been almost two years since I applied,” said Mittal.
Another beneficiary, Rajesh Shekhawat (41) of Jhunjhunu, had applied for a UDID card on the centre’s portal on October 21, 2020. His wife, Rachana Singh (39), had also applied for a UDID card on October 8, 2018. However, they are yet to get their UDID cards. They were asked to contact the district CMHO’s office.
“When we met an official at the CMHO’s office, we were told they didn’t have the authority to access details on the GOI-run portal. We were told to apply on the state-run portal with SSO-ID. But, we were unable to do it on the state-run portal,” said Ajit Singh, Shekhawat’s younger brother.
State’s social justice and empowerment minister Tika Ram Jully said he had approved the file about two months ago to have one portal for creating UDID cards. “Because of two portals, many were facing difficulties in getting UDID cards made. At present, after issuing disability certificates at the state level, data is sent to the government of India for issuance of UDID cards. Based on this, UDID cards are issued to PwDs through the Swavalamban portal by the centre,” said Jully.
“Because of the existence of a state-run portal, work is not being done on the GOI-run portal. Due to this, UDID cards can’t be issued to PwDs of the state directly through the GOI’s Swavalamban portal. In compliance with the GOI’s notification, dated: May 05, 2021, a letter had been written requesting the Centre to issue disability certificates to Divyangjans of the state through the Swavalamban portal itself,” Jully added.
Avdhesh Meena, commissioner and joint secretary, disabilities, Rajasthan, said, “We have already taken a decision to close down the state-run portal and use Swavalamban portal for issuing UDID cards. The preparation is going on. We are in the process of training the officials and e-Mitra operators to use the GOI-run portal.”
Hemant Bhai Goyal, national president, Divyang Adhikar Mahasangh, said, “The state government should not delay the use of Swavalamban portal any further. I had written to the state government and the Centre in this regard. The chief commissioner for PwDs, GOI, had directed the department of empowerment of persons with disabilities, GOI, and the commissioner for PwDs, Rajasthan, to take necessary action on my complaint. But, there’s no solution as of now.”
