BJP MLAs: BJP MLAs Loyal to Raje Meet at Her Residence in Jaipur | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Several of BJP’s winning candidates who are considered to be loyalists of former chief minister Vasundhara Raje met her at her residence on Monday amid speculations over who will be the CM in Rajasthan.
Political pundits see the visits as a show of strength by Raje. The BJP has secured 115 seats in the 200-member Assembly. Raje held 54 election rallies during the campaign, impacting 70 seats. Many candidates supported by her won the polls, making her position strong for the top post. Those who visited her on Monday includde Bahadur Singh Koli, Kalicharan Saraf, Surest Rawat, Govind Ranipuria, Lalit Meena, Premchand Bairwa, KK Vishnoi, and Ramswaroop Lamba, to name a few.
TOI contacted some of them for their comments, but most of them refused to state anything on the record. “It was a courtesy visit to thank her for her support. She is our leader, who guided her towards victory,” said a winning candidate, requesting anonymity. Another said, “I hope that the sentiments of the people will be respected and the party will reaffirm its faith in the leader who is the most experienced and popular in the state.”
Bahadur Singh Koli, who has won the Wier seat, asserted that the people’s wish is to see Raje as the CM. “It is the party’s central leaders who will decide the CM but if they ask us, we will tell them it should be Raje ji,” said Koli, adding that he visted her to seek her blessings.
It is expected that more winning candidates would turn up at Raje’s residence while the party decides on the CM’s name. Raje pitched for tickets to her loyalists with the party’s central leaders and screening committee members in Jaipur and in Delhi. She did have a say in the ticket distribution. She campaigned in every seat where her loyalists were in the fray and also for others who requested her presence.
Raje’s office said that the visits by the winning candidates were a courtesy call. A party source said, “Raje’s strength at the moment is these winning candidates rallying behind her. At present, she is the only senior leader present in Jaipur.”

With loyalists in and two main rivals out, is Vasundhara Raje back in race?
Vasundhara Raje’s return to prominence in Rajasthan politics at 70 isn’t just another sidelight in a famous BJP victory. It marks her out as an outlier in a pantheon of BJP veterans who have survived – and prospered – in no small part due to the blessings of the central leadership. On Sunday, Raje retained the Jhalrapatan seat by a margin of 53,000-odd votes, giving her the leverage she now needs as the race for the CM’s post begins.

Raje retained the Jhalrapatan seat by a margin of 53,000-odd votes, while her primary opponents within the party were defeated. With the support of at least 35 loyalists who also won, she now has the leverage she needs as the race for the CM’s post begins. This election signaled a comeback for Raje, who had been considered a has-been and maintained a low profile. Despite setbacks, Raje has had a chequered career, outmaneuvering adversaries and holding key positions in the party.
