Former CM Vasundhara Raje has been retained as national vice-president, Sunil Bansal as national general secretary and Alka Gurjar as national secretary. The announcement of the national team coincided with BJP’s National President JP Nadda’s visit to Jaipur for electoral meetings. This marks the second time in 15 days that Nadda has assigned a task to Rajasthan’s leaders.
According to the party members, the move suggests that the BJP is shifting its focus towards preparing for the upcoming Assembly elections by avoiding internal conflicts among leaders in the state. “Showing the united front, Nadda has set the party’s political line and clarified the message to move forward without having differences,” said a BJP leader. This move also indicates BJP’s effort to engage these leaders at the national level. Vasundhara Raje was recently sent to Jharkhand and has been holding rallies in Rajasthan ahead of the assembly elections, including a significant rally in Kota. “The approach suggests that stalwarts’ leaders with grassroots support might be given responsibilities in other states as well, alongside Rajasthan. The BJP aims to have active leaders at the national level rather than limiting them to a single state. Also, the party is indicating that the Rajasthan elections will be contested under collective leadership,” A source in BJP said, “Vasundhara Raje’s role in the electoral committees will determine the party’s narrative.
Her supporters are also keenly anticipating this decision, with discussions on her potential assignment as the head of the campaign committee or the chief of the electoral committee”.
