Eloping: Man Accused Of Eloping With Married Woman 32 Yrs Ago Held |

Kota: A 62-year-old man, accused of eloping with a married woman from Kota about 32 years ago.
He is currently working as a wage labourer with changed name and living with his second wife and five children in Jaipur. He had a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head and was a proclaimed offender. He was arrested from Kanota area in Jaipur on Friday and produced him before court on Saturday that ordered to send him to jail under judicial custody.
“Having a standing warranty for 32 years and a proclaimed offender, Om Prakash Chhipa alias Shambudayal (62), a native of Neem Ke Kheda village in Bundi district, was arrested from Jaipur in connection with a case lodged in 1991 in Udhyog Nagar police station in Kota,” said Kota city SP Sharad Choudhary.
The accused had been living with changed name in Jaipur with his family and worked as a labourer, he said.
“In view of upcoming assembly elections, directions were given by state police headquarters to nab accused with standing warranty. A police team led by SHO Anil Joshi under supervision of DSP Dharmveer Singh was formed to trace accused Om Prakesh,” the SP said.
“Constable Ramprakash, Ramkishore and Mahaveer of the teamposed as labourer contractors and offered employment on the roadside to trace the accused in Jaipur,” he added.
“The accused had eloped with a married woman of Udhyog Nagar police station area along with cash and jewellery in 1991. However, the woman returned to her home while accused Om Prakesh, booked under sections 363 and 366 of IPC, had been on the run,” DSP Dharmveer Singh said.
The accused, during this period, never returned to his native place in Bundi district nor contacted to any of his relatives and lived a secret life under a changed name as labourer with his family in rented house in Kanota area in Jaipur, he further said.
The accused was sent to jail under judicial custody on Saturday, he added.

The CBI has arrested a sub-inspector and an assistant sub-inspector of the Bihar Police in relation to the escape of an accused from Kateya police station. The sub-inspector was the station house officer at the time, while the assistant sub-inspector was the investigation officer. The CBI took over the case after finding inconsistencies in the police’s handling of the escape. The arrested officers have been remanded for further interrogation.
