Enforcement Directorate Officials: Bribery Case: 2 More Ed Staff Under Acb Scanner | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Two more Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials, stationed at the central agency’s sub-zone office in Imphal, are now under scrutiny by the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in an ongoing investigation into a bribery case.
The ACB filed an FIR on Saturday against the ED’s Enforcement Officer (EO) stationed in Imphal, Naval Kishore Meena, and his accomplice, Babulal Meena, a clerk in the local sub-registrar office in Mundawar, Khairthal-Tijara district of Rajasthan. They were arrested on Thursday after being caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15 lakh from a complainant in Neemrana, Alwar in, in exchange for not attaching the complainant’s property and refraining from arresting them.
The same FIR also points to another ED officer, Himanshu Gautam, posted in Imphal. The ACB’s investigation, based on the complainant’s report, the verification of the bribe demand, and the examination of WhatsApp chats, revealed Gautam’s suspicious involvement in the case.
Additionally, the FIR states that the ACB’s probe has uncovered that the complainant’s case within the ED was being handled by assistant director M Shivananda of the ED’s sub-zone in Imphal.
“It would be appropriate to clarify the situation regarding the involvement of M Shivananda and Himanshu Gautam in crime through an investigation,” FIR states.
The TOI on Friday reported that the ACB may also look into the role of other colleagues of Naval Kishore within the ED regarding the case. The ED has suspended Naval Kishore and initiated a probe against him and Babulal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ACB’s investigation indicates that Naval Kishore initially demanded a bribe of Rs 17 lakh but agreed to settle for Rs 15 lakh in exchange for preventing an arrest and resolving a case related to a Ponzi and chit fund.
