‘ercp Part Of Pm’s River-linking Project’ | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: Union jal shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who is here on a two-day visit to Jaisalmer, on Sunday said that the East Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) was part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious river-linking project.
In a video that went viral recently, Shekhwat was seen commenting on the ERCP that funds for it will be given only if the “government of Rajendra Rathore” is formed in Rajasthan. When asked by reporters about this, he said that Rathore was the leader of Opposition in the state but who will lead the BJP government after the elections will only be decided by the party’s parliamentary board. “The chief minister can be Rajendra Rathore, Vasundhara Raje, Satish Poonia, or any other,” he said.
Shekhawat chose to speak less about the ERCP than about other projects under his ministry. He said that the cleaning of Yamuna river in Mathura and Vrindavan is being done on the lines of the Namami Gange project. Three new dams are to be built to stop sewage water slowing into the Yamuna, he said, adding that Asia’s biggest sewage treatment plant will be completed this month and PM Modi will inaugurate it.
