Ex-servicemen Duped Of 200cr By Company Promising Big Returns | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The city police on Thursday filed a case of a multi-crore investment fraud, in which several retired defence personnel were duped. Additional commissioner of police (crime) Ajay Pal Lamba said the FIR was registered at Jhotwara police station and that a thorough probe was underway.
The counsel of the victims, Rajesh Choudhary, told TOI that nearly 500 ex-servicemen lost over Rs 200 crore to a dubious firm that promised hefty returns against investment in Dholera smart city project in Gujarat. As per the FIR, the firm promised Rs 1,353 every Tuesday for 60 weeks for an investment of Rs 50,000. The accused claimed that investors through these payments could earn up to Rs 80,000, it added.
“The accused convinced the investors that their money was secure with them, and so the ex-servicemen made payments to them. From January 24, the investors stopped getting their returns,” said Choudhary.
Police said several FIRs have also been filed against the same firm in Sikar district. “An investigation into the case is underway. We have been told that the firm also ran an office in Jhotwara area,” said an official.
