Nahargarh: ‘no Activity’ In Nahargarh Eco-sensitive Zone, Orders Ngt | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) in its latest order has ordered that no activity must be allowed to continue in the eco-sensitive zone of Nahargarh Wildlife Sanctuary, which includes stopping the night market at the Jal Mahal permanently.
The tribunal noted that a report submitted by the joint committee revealed that activities were being carried out in violation of rules in the eco-sensitive zone of Nahargarh Wildlife Sanctuary and without permission from the competent authority.
“The allegations are that solid and liquid waste is being discharged in the eco-sensitive zone in violation of the rules, causing further air pollution, noise pollution and water pollution… Since the activities as narrated in the joint committee are in violation of eco-sensitive zone, the respondents are directed not to further continue any activities, as mentioned in the joint committee report, in violation of notification issued by the MoEF&CC governing the eco-sensitive zone of Nahargarh Wildlife Sanctuary,” states the order.
The NGT directed JMC Heritage to submit a response addressing the allegations and issues raised by the joint committee.
In July this year, the JMC Heritage had removed the weekly night market before the G20 summit as delegates visiting were scheduled to visit the monument. At the same time, NGT had observed that the “night market is causing pollution to the water body and also causing noise and air pollution.”
In August, while hearing the case, NGT had observed that the night market was being operated in an eco-sensitive zone and had sought a proper report about discharge of untreated effluent causing pollution in Jal Mahal lake.
In November last year, a weekly night market on Saturdays and Sundays was started at Jal Mahal by Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage to promote night tourism in the state capital.

EU seeks to protect sensitive tech from Chinese buyers
The EU is set to unveil a list of sensitive technologies that must be kept out of China’s hands, as part of its efforts to counter China’s aggressive trade policies. Brussels aims to protect the bloc from actions by rival countries and punish nations that put pressure on member states. The European Commission will also publish a list of critical technologies that Europe should not make easily available to countries that could harm the bloc’s security, interests, or human rights. The EU is also working on mechanisms to impose tariffs and restrict investment as a response to trade restrictions imposed on Lithuania by China.
