Extinction Event: Hc Imposes 50k Fine On State Govt In Contempt Petition | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A single bench of Rajasthan High Court while hearing a contempt petition on Monday imposed Rs 50,000 as fine on the state government and asked the additional chief secretary, Panchayati Raj to appear before the court on October 19. The case is about providing salary to Bansur gram panchayat employee by considering him as a regular worker 1983 onwards. Justice Mahendra Goyal gave the orders while hearing a petition filed by the family of one Lalaram Saini who died on September 3, 2021.
“Lalaram worked as class IV employee of gram panchayat, Bansur from 1983 on contract. When he retired on July 31, 2020, the government stated that he was not entitled to a pension as he was on contract,” Hanuman Chaudhary, the petitioner’s counsel said.
The family approached the HC in 2021 and filed a petition to treat him as a regular employee. “A single bench on January 21, 2021 ordered that Lalaram be treated as regular and given all the benefits as a regular employee from 1983 till 2020. The state approached double bench of HC against the order, which dismissed the appeal on May 6, 2022,” Chaudhary added.
A contempt petition was filed on September 17, 2021, in which initially notices were issued. “Meanwhile, the state began family pension, but withheld other benefits. Two months ago, the HC told the state to comply with its orders. On Monday, the government sought more time,” the counsel added. tnn
