Alia Bhattreceived her first National Award for her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. She shared the honour with Kriti Sanon, who too, won the award for her role in Mimi. Alia, who was accompanied by husband Ranbir Kapoor at the ceremony held at the National capital yesterday, said that she was full of gratitude. Earlier, as the actress went on stage to receive the award from President Droupadi Murmu, Ranbir Kapoor got behind the camera to capture Alia’s special moment. The proud husband was seen recording Alia’s award winning moment with a wide smile. For this iconic moment, Alia Bhatt opted to wear her saree. The actress looked stunning in the ivory and gold drape, which she wore for her wedding with Ranbir Kapoor in April 2022.Alia shared the National Film Award honour with Kriti Sanon, who received the same for Mimi. Soon after the win was announced in August this year, Alia had penned on Instagram, “To Sanjay Sir..To the entire crew..To my family..To my team & last but most definitely not the least — To my audience.. ♥️ This national award is yours .. because without you ALL none of this would be possible.. seriously!!! She added, “I am SO grateful 🙏.. I do not take moments like these lightly.. I hope to continue to entertain for as long as I can.. Love and light.. Gangu (also known as alia) 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍.”

She had also congratulated Kriti Sanon and added, “P.S – Kriti .. I remember messaging you the day I saw Mimi .. it was such an honest and powerful performance.. I cried and cried.. so so well deserved.. shine on you star… the world is your oyster.” Replying to her, Kriti wrote, “Congratulations Aliaaaa! So so well deserved! I’ve always admired your work and I’m too excited that I get to share this huge moment with you! Yayyyiiee!! Biggg hug Lets Celebrate!!.”
